ERIKA GRIMM

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PHILOSOPHY

ST. MARY'S UNIVERSITY

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas.

My primary areas of research are U.S. Latinx and Latin American philosophy (especially Latina and Chicana feminisms), philosophy of race, and contemporary critical phenomenology. I am especially interested in questions of linguistic identity, perception, and embodiment, and in interrogating ideological relationships at the nexus of race, language, gender, class, citizenship, and disability.

I've been teaching courses at the university level since 2019. Some of the topics I've taught include ethics and ethical leadership, social and political philosophy, philosophy of gender, philosophy of race, and representing women and gender in art, literature, and pop culture.

I hold a dual-title Ph.D. in Philosophy and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from The Pennsylvania State University

I am originally from Southern California, where I received my B.A. in Philosophy and Linguistics from California State University, Fullerton.
